Doq | Red Rock Open Space Senior Photos
colorado springs, co
Red Rock Open Space is one of those locations that never disappoints, no matter how many times I photograph there (also, it's where I got married, so I guess I love it for more than one reason =) ). It just screams Colorado — bright skies, those iconic red rock formations everyone loves, winding trails, and just enough variety to make a session feel unique without ever feeling busy. It’s easily one of my favorite spots for senior photos, and Doq’s session there was such a perfect example of why.
I met Doq and his mom, Sari, through a mutual friend, and it was so great to spend an evening with them! We decided on Red Rock Open Space for his senior session, which was a great fit all around. There's space to explore, which creates room for people to relax in front of the camera and also get the "best of Colorado" in one session: mountains, red rocks, and (usually) a lot of sunshine.

an easy place to explore
One of the things I love most about Red Rock Open Space is how easy it is to wander. We spent about an hour walking around, climbing rocks, and working our way through the grasses (obviously watching out for snakes, because THAT would be no fun). Pretty much anywhere you turn you'll get a great backdrop, so you really can't go wrong.
This location is especially great for seniors because it offers so much visual variety in a short amount of time. In one session, we were able to get some mountain backdrops, open fields, trails, and wide views — and we didn't have to burn out on a super long walk between locations. This is especially beneficial if the weather isn't cooperating (but lucky for us, it was!).
Red Rock Open Space also photographs really well year-round. The bold, earthy tones of the rocks and landscape work with whatever you decide to wear and feel neither trendy nor dated. And I can attest from our personal wedding photos that any images you capture here will look stunning hung up at your house, no matter how it's decorated— the colors really go with almost anything (just a cool bonus!).

celebrating a meaningful season
Doq brought such an easygoing presence to the session. He’s kind, thoughtful, and has a great laugh, and spending the evening with him and his mom was a joyl. I always love when parents are part of the session in some way — senior year is such a meaningful milestone, and it’s special to capture it with those who helped you get there.
Choosing the right location makes a huge difference in how a session feels. A place like Red Rock Open Space allows seniors to move, be themselves, and enjoy the experience without feeling awkward or overly posed. It gives us space for conversation and photos that feel true to who they are in this season of life.
Doq, congratulations on being a senior, and thank you both for trusting me to capture this chapter. It was such a joy spending the evening together at one of my favorite locations and celebrating this milestone!
