Jacob & Jenny | Cherry Creek Reservoir Maternity Photos

denver, co

OH my goodness, where do I even begin with these two (technically three!!)?!

Some sessions truly feel like markers in time, when you begin to wrap your head around the reality that life is changing in the most profound way. This maternity session with Jacob and Jenny was exactly that.

Jacob and Jenny aren’t just clients — they’re family. My husband Isaac has been best friends with Jacob since their little league days, back when their dads were coaching and cheering them on from the sidelines. I met Jacob when I was fourteen, not long after meeting Isaac, and over the years his family became my second family. His parents have mentored us, prayed over us, walked alongside us, and remain deeply woven into our everyday lives. We even all went to Kenya on a mission trip together! When you photograph people you genuinely love, it hits different — and this session was full of meaning for me.

When Jacob started dating Jenny toward the end of our high school years, I remember thinking, wow — she’s absolutely stunning. And then I got to know her, and realized her beauty goes so much deeper than the surface. Jenny is adventurous, brilliant (she’s earning her PhD and literally travels the world to speak at physics conferences — no big deal or anything), and her heart is rooted in Jesus. Together, Jacob and Jenny radiate grace, compassion, and joy. They’re the kind of people who make others feel seen and loved just by being in the room.

And now… they’ve made a baby!!!

Sweet Eliara Briggs is about to make her entrance into the world, and I can hardly believe we’re already here. Photographing this season for Jacob and Jenny was an immense honor — not just because of our history, but because maternity photos matter in ways you don’t fully understand until you’re past this season.

why maternity photos matter more than you think

Pregnancy is fleeting. Even when it feels long, uncomfortable, and exhausting (and believe me, I know how true those feelings are haha), in the long run it truly passes in the blink of an eye. Your body is doing holy, unseen work — growing a soul and preparing for a life you haven’t yet met. Maternity photos freeze this chapter before it slips quietly into memory. They’re proof of the strength, anticipation, and love that already exists long before your baby is in your arms.

So often, parents skip maternity photos because they don’t feel “ready,” “glowy,” or “like themselves.” But that’s exactly why these images are so important. You don’t need to feel perfect. You don’t need to wait for a milestone or a specific week. This season — right now — is worthy of being remembered and celebrated exactly as it is.

Creating Heirloom Images Your Child Will One Day See

One day, Eliara will see these photos. She’ll see how in love her parents her with her before she even arrived. How in love her mom and dad are with each other. How her mama carried her with tenderness and strength and joy. These photos become part of your family’s story — something you’ll revisit when the newborn days feel like a blur, and again years later when your baby is all grown up.

Maternity photography isn’t about the location or the outfits or even the photos themselves. It’s about honoring the transition. It’s about saying, this matters. And it's one way of telling your little one that they matter.

Jacob and Jenny, you two are already extraordinary parents. Eliara, you are so deeply loved — and your story has been celebrated from the very beginning.

If you’re considering maternity photos and wondering if it’s worth it, let this be your reminder: this season deserves to be remembered and celebrated.
