Keenan & Madeline | Downtown Colorado Springs Couple Photos

Some sessions just hit different — and this was for sure one of them! Photographing Keenan and Madeline never feels like “work” because they’re not just clients… they’re dear friends. And honestly, when you’re photographing people you genuinely love, everything feels easy. We laugh over inside jokes and enjoy each other's company more than anything.

For their couples photos, we decided to switch things up and head downtown. I love the mountains and all, but sometimes some city views are where it's at, and downtown Colorado Springs has some of both!

Parking Garage Views (Always a Yes)

We started things off at the top of my favorite downtown parking garage — which sounds a little unconventional until you see the view. The skyline, the mountains in the background, and some stellar afternoon light make it worth it every time.

Keenan and Madeline were complete naturals from the start (no surprise =) ). I LOVE the kind of moments you don't force — you just notice and capture. My personal fave: watching Madeline (who is definitely shorter than Keenan) try to take him down from behind and fail.

A Little Coffee Break

About thirty minutes in, we all came to the same conclusion at the exact same time: COFFEE! So we wandered over to Wild Goose, one of my favorite local downtown spots, and grabbed lattes (let's be real, I'll never say no to a latte).

Sometimes a casual break instantly helps people to relax even more. Photos with your loved one don’t need to feel posed or serious to be beautiful — the best ones happen when couples are just living their real life together.

Wandering Through Downtown Colorado Springs

Downtown Colorado Springs is full of hidden gems for couple photos — brick walls, some incredible murals, old-enough-to-be-pretty architecture, cozy cafes. It’s the kind of place where you can wander and explore and probably get lucky with stellar photos almost anywhere you go. There's plenty of cute "pockets" of space that make for unique photos.

What I love most about downtown sessions is the variety. In one shoot, you can capture big city views, intimate close-ups, playful walking shots, and even get some mountain backgrounds too. My hope is that our time feels less like a photoshoot and more like a date night with a third wheel (hi, that’s me!) =)

Keenan and Madeline are so clearly besties. They're comfortable with each other and look at each other with stars in their eyes (and I mean that in the very best way). It’s evident in the smallest moments — the way they hold hands, the way they laugh at and with each other, the way they lean in close.

Some of my favorite images from this session are the ones where nothing special was “happening” at all — just walking down the street, holding hands over coffee, or making each other laugh. Guys. These photos just feel like them.

Why Downtown Colorado Springs Is So Good for couples Photos

If you’re drawn to something a little different than a traditional mountain or park session, downtown Colorado Springs is such a great option. It adds some classic vibes,  vintage beauty, and variety — without taking the focus away from you as a couple.

Here’s why it works so well:

  • Tons of variety in one session — skyline views, mountain backdrops, beautiful architecture, coffee shops, murals, all within a few blocks
  • Beautiful natural light — especially during golden hour!
  • More candid moments — sitting in a fave date night spot can really help couples relax in front of the camera
  • Timeless but personal — city textures AND soft light never go out of style

Keenan and Madeline’s session is the perfect example of how downtown couples photos can feel playful, relaxed, and totally genuine while still looking timeless and intentional.

A Session I Won’t Forget

This session was such a good reminder of why I love couples photography. It’s not about perfect poses or trendy locations — it’s about capturing real connection, real joy, and real moments in a way that feels honest and timeless.

Downtown Colorado Springs gave us the space to explore, slow down, and let things unfold naturally — and getting to do that with people as joyful and in love as Keenan and Madeline made it even better.

Keenan and Madeline, thank you for trusting me to capture this season of your lives. Your love, laughter, and friendship with each other made this downtown Colorado Springs couples session an absolute joy to photograph!
